SEMI PLACE FOR WIGTOWN

WIGTOWN reached the semi-finals of the Cree Lodge Cup with a 6-2 win over Newton Stewart last night in the West section of the competition. They will meet the winners of the St Cuthbert Wanderers v Stranraer match after Saints beat Fleet Star 5-0 and Stranraer, the current holders, were 2-1 winners over Creetown.

In the East section it turned out to be a disappointing night for Heston Rovers playing their first ever game at their new Maryfield ground in Dumfries. They went down 3-2 to Nithsdale Wanderers despite leading 2-0 early in the second half. Paul Cairney hit the winner for Wanderers.

In the other games Threave Rovers beat Abbey Vale 2-0 and Crichton edged out Mid Annandale 3-2.

Spartans brought Stirling Uni back to earth with a n 2 - 1 win away from home in the East Premier League

Selkirk, who were thrashed 6-0 by Stirling at the weekend came back to form and beat Vale of Leithen 2-0.
